For commercial, contractor-managed and higher-risk installations, we prepare project-specific RAMS documents before work begins — so your site team, principal contractor, or facilities manager has everything needed for approval.
A Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) sets out how a specific job will be carried out safely — identifying the risks present on that particular site and the control measures we put in place to manage them, alongside the sequence the work will follow.
We provide a written, project-specific RAMS whenever the work involves significant risk, or whenever a client or principal contractor requests one. Common situations where we prepare a RAMS include:
Please flag at quotation stage if your site or principal contractor requires a written RAMS — this gives us time to prepare it properly.
Once a date is confirmed, we know the site conditions and access arrangements the RAMS needs to reflect.
We write the RAMS for that job specifically — not a generic template — covering the risks and controls relevant to your site.
The RAMS goes to you or your principal contractor for review. Many sites won't allow our operatives to start work until it's been accepted.
There is no single law stating that every job must have a written RAMS. However:
For a straightforward domestic window or door replacement, a written RAMS may not always be requested, although we still carry out a risk assessment for every job we undertake. For commercial installations, housing association work, or projects involving scaffolding, a project-specific RAMS is usually expected and often mandatory.
This is general guidance, not legal advice. If you need to confirm specific compliance requirements for your site, please speak to your principal contractor or health & safety adviser.
Alongside RAMS, we hold comprehensive insurance cover appropriate for commercial and higher-value projects. Certificates are provided on request.

Yes. RAMS are prepared once your quotation is accepted and an installation date is agreed, so please flag at quotation stage if your site or principal contractor requires one — this gives us time to prepare and send it for approval before your install date.
Not usually. A written RAMS isn't always requested for simple domestic window or door replacement, though we still carry out a risk assessment for every job. If you'd like a written RAMS for a domestic project regardless, we're happy to provide one on request.
Each RAMS is project-specific, covering the sequence of works, the risks identified for that particular site (access, working at height, tools and equipment, materials handling), and the control measures we put in place to manage them.
